Charles Dawes, the vice-president under President Cooliedge, formerly served as Director of the Bureau of the Budget. He was a co-winner of the 1925 Nobel Peace Prize for his work on World War I reparations. He was a self-taught pianist and composer and his "Melody in A Major" was played as many functions as his signature tune. Lyrices were added in 1951, and in 1958 Tommy Edwards recorded it as a pop tune titled, "It's All in the Game." The single hit #1 in both the US and United Kingdom. Perhaps obviously, Dawes is the only vice-president or Nobel Peace Prize winner to have a #1 hit single on the pop charts.
