Geocache Description:

A geocache high on Abbott Ridge in Glacier National Park.

After climbing out of the forest, the trail enters a high alpine meadow below the summit ridge.   Abbott Observatory lies at the edge of the hill.   It is used as a monitoring station for snowpack and weather conditions used in predicting avalanches in the area.   Views extend across to the Hermit Range, the Sir Donald Range, and to Asulkan Pass.   Marmots and pikas can be spotted in the meadows and some of the large boulders make an ideal place for a rest or lunch.   This is a magical spot on a perfect trail.

This geocache and the others placed by this owner were authorized by Parks Canada, following established policies and procedures (link). Please read the guidelines and support responsible geocaching in our National Parks.
