El pantano del Ebro está construido en el rio Ebro en el norte de España. Se encuentra a caballo entre la comarca burgalesa de Las Merindades y la comarca cántabra de Campoo-Los Valles. Es el tercer embalse de mayor capacidad de la cuenca hidrográfica del Ebro, por detrás de los embalses de Mequinenza y Canelles.
El 70% de la totalidad del embalse se encuentra dentro de Cantabria, mientras el otro 30% se encuentra en Burgos. Se nutre de aguas cántabras en un altísimo porcentaje, por los ríos Ebro, Híjar e Izarilla, y el deshielo de las cumbres de Tresmares, en su lado este, y de toda la Sierra de Isar. Mientras que de la parte burgalesa el río Virga vierte su corriente en el pantano.

Ebro's reservoir is built in the Ebro river, in the north of Spain. It is located between Las Merindades (Burgos province) and the area of Campoo-Los Valles, which belongs to Cantabria province. It is the third reservoir with the most capacity of the whole drainage area of Ebro river. First and second are Mequienza and Canelles reservoirs.
The largest part, which represents the 70%, it is situated in Cantabria. Whereas the 30% in Burgos. It is fed by cantabrian waters in a very high percentaje, by Ebro, Hijar and Izarilla rivers. Thaw of Tresmares peaks in its east side and the whole Isar mountain chain. On the other hand, it is the Virga river that pours its flow into the part of Burgos.
