*****THIS CACHE IS IN PLAIN SIGHT*****
Please do not disturb the surrounding landscaping, there is no need. No need to turn over any rocks, dig in the dirt, or generally disturb any living thing. That is why there are proper stepping stones. UPDATE, the cache was recently muggled. The external container had a remodel and it should allow easier access to the actual cache container. Please be cautious when attempting to obtain the cache. The external is fragile and the devices used to hold it in place are fragile.
Now for some history.
West Milwaukee, sandwiched between West Allis & Milwaukee was the youngest and smallest of five industrial suburbs. It's dominant player was the Pawling and Harnischfeger company (P&H), which moved west from Walker's point in 1905 after a disastrous fire at its original plant. According to Henry Harnischfeger, the blaze was a blessing in disguise. The communities excellent rail connections attracted other firms, including plants that produce malt (germinated barley) for local breweries. As west Milwaukee developed, the smokestacks and grain silos on it's skyline contrasted sharply with the serene setting of the suburbs and next-door neighbor the national soldiers home (VA grounds).
An excerpt from, The Making of Milwaukee by John Gurda. Since I'm not from Wisconsin, I found it well worth the read.
