Welcome to Penarth Slate Mine, home of Dragons. The location of the latest CBITD event. This event is the toughest CBITD event yet, as we will be spending 3 to 4 hours exploring Underground. The Mine it's self is huge.

So now for the nitty gritty details We will be departing from the location of GC4WMDE Camping with the Cavemen!, at approximately 10:00hrs (10am). With a walk of approximately 1.3miles/2.27km, to the Entrance to the Mine. The large part of the walk to the Mine is up a steep hill.

On arrival at the Mine Entrance, we will have a short briefing, and split into groups. Each Group will hopefully be Guided by a person with Underground Exploration Experience, each Guide will have a Mine Survey Map.

Each Person Intending to Enter the Mine, will be given a CBITD Event Guideline Sheet, and is requested to follow the CBITD Event Guidelines upon entering the Mine.

We will take a Head Count, before entering the Mine

we will enter at short intervals, to allow each group to clear the Mine Entrance.

We will meet up at The designated Picnic Point, which will be marked up on the Mine Survey maps. At 12:30 hours. Again a Head Count will be conducted

We will after the Miners Picnic, once again in our Groups, continue to explore the Mine.

Meeting up outside at the Entrance at 14:00 (2pm). Where a Final Head Count will take place. Before we wearily head off down Hill, for a well deserved brew, at our Base Camp

Please Note! The minimum equipment needed for the Mine Exploration will be

  • Hard Hat/Bump cap/cycle helmet
  • Primary Torch
  • Secondary Torch
  • Batteries for both
  • Warm Clothing/Coverall
  • Wellington's/Waterproof Boots
  • Food and Drink for the Miners picnic
  • A sense of adventure
