This geocache is part of a series with Travel Bugs dropped as part of celebrations linked to Clitheroe District Scouts centenary. Yes scouting in the Clitheroe Area has been active for a 100 years. During the Centenary year 2014, there will be special camps, a Gang show and another activities. St Mary Magdalene Scout Group have decided to see how far we can spread the word of scouting in Clitheroe. We want to see how far our Travel bugs can travel during 2014 and beyond.
This Geocache is located with the kind permission of one of our supporters St Mary's Church where we support Church Parades and use the Hall (St Mary's Centre). As this cache is located within the grounds of the church we ask that you take extra care to respect the grounds, and keep to the paths.
Look up and be inspired – makes reference to to the recently rebuilt 20m (66f) tall spire of the Church which dates back to 1848. The spire required rebuilding as iron cramps (which are rods used to hold together stone building materials during construction) have corroded causing leaks within the structure. Completed in 2013 at a cost of around £360k the spire will now hopefully continue to stand proud on the Clitheroe skyline for at least another 165 years.
The cache on the lower levels of the church grounds is just off a link between a close and a brow.
Cache is a small cache contained in a cammo bay, with logbook and pencil
