MURDER!!!

There has been a murder at Highland Park! Mr. Ulmer, the inventor of geocaching, was apparently the victim of foul play and was found in one of the areas of Highland Park. To find the cache, you must determine the answers to these questions:

Who done it?

Where did the murder take place?

What was the murder weapon?

To solve the murder mystery, discover where the murderer hid the murder weapon, you must complete this INTERCACHE.

There are 9 physical locations at Highland Park. There are also 9 virtual items: 6 weapons and 3 murder suspects. Each physical location contains one virtual item. Once you arrive at a physical location within the specified radius, you will be able to add the virtual item to your inventory. Your job is to bring the correct virtual weapon and virtual murder suspect to the correct physical location in Highland Park. Once you bring the correct weapon and correct suspect to the correct location, a NEW location titled "FINAL COORDINATES" will be available. Select the FINAL COORDINATES location to reveal the coordinates to the final. The cache is a physical container that contains a log sheet and earns you a smiley.

As a courtesy to future cachers, DO NOT post the answers to the murder mystery in your logs. Thanks!

LOCATIONS:

Baseball Diamond
The Baseball Diamond is one of the main attractions at the park. Was Mr. Ulmer murdered during a dispute at a baseball game?

Concessions Area
The Concessions Area is a great place to buy tasty treats for the big game. Did Mr. Ulmer's untimely death occur as he was purchasing a Baby Ruth?

Meadow
The Meadow originally used to be a soccer field. The city is currently converting the area into a bird sanctuary. Was Mr. Ulmer murdered while doing some local bird watching?

North Parking Lot
The North Parking Lot is the larger of the two lots in the park. The murderer could make a quick and easy get-away from this location. (A Park & Grab???)

Old Tennis Courts
This is the site of the Old Tennis Courts. Years ago, these were the best maintained courts in Tiffin and sported coin operated stadium lights for nighttime play. Was Mr. Ulmer murdered during a contemptuous round of tennis?

Pavilion
This small pavilion is the perfect spot to take a rest. Did the murderer sneak up behind Mr. Ulmer while he stopped to log some of his finds for the day?

Skating Area
The Skating Area is the newest feature in the park and is the only skate park in Tiffin. Did the murderer try to make Mr. Ulmer's untimely death look like an accident?

South Parking Lot
The South Parking Lot is the smaller of the two lots. Did the murderer sneak up behind Mr. Ulmer as he was leaving an evening baseball game?

Street Corner
This Street Corner is located at the intersection of North Washington Street and 8th Avenue. The murderer would have to be a master of stealth if this sinister act was committed at this highly visible location.

WEAPONS:

Ammo Can
The Ammo Can is the gold standard to which all other caching containers are measured by. It is impervious to water, provides excellent durability, and holds copious amounts of SWAG. Due to its sheer size and weight, it also makes an excellent murder weapon.

Fake Rock
This container can either be an easy find or devilishly hard depending on it's surroundings. If thrown just right, it also makes a great murder weapon.

GPS
Without a GPS unit, there would be no geocaching. Because the geocaching guidelines state that a GPS must be used in part to find the cache, its use as a murder weapon can not be ruled out.

Multi-Tool
No geocacher worth his salt would never leave home without a trusty multi-tool. As a bonus, it also gives you several options for committing murder.

Poisoned Nano
The bane of our geocaching existence - the nano. It's stealth is perfect for hiding in high muggle areas. If prepared properly with agents not to be spoken of, its stealth can also be the perfect vehicle for murder.

Walking Stick
The walking stick - a necessary accessory for the more "experienced" geocacher. This is clearly a weapon of desperation.

SUSPECTS:

Keystone
Motive: Keystone had always disputed Mr. Ulmer's claim as the inventor of geocaching. Keystone publicly claims that HE placed the world's first geocache but it's publication got held up due to a "technicality" in the geocaching guidelines which caused (in Keystone's words) "Mr. Ulmer's cheesy bucket cache" to get published first. Since then, it has been Keystone's quest to master the guidelines, skillfully apply them to all situations, and seek revenge upon all of Mr. Ulmer's caches.

Mr. Ollivander
Motive: Considered by many to be the best geocache container maker in the world, Mr. Ollivander's caches are so stealthy even HE can't find them once in a while. Mr. Ollivander had a loathing disdain for Mr. Ulmer's first container which was a partially buried black plastic bucket. Mr. Ollivander has frequently been quoted saying, "Mr. Ulmer's cache doesn't even follow the guidelines! I should have had the chance to make geocaching's first container!"

The Brigadier
Motive: With his military background and experience in covert operations, The Brigadier is a master at achieving First-To-Finds - almost too good... The Brigadier publicly claims that he found Mr. Ulmer's first geocache BEFORE it was published. "I just happened to be strolling around in the Oregon wilderness and, 'Blammo!', there is was. I tried to sign the log sheet, but I forgot my pen." Mr. Ulmer disputed The Brigadier's FTF claim and continuously deletes all logs by The Brigadier saying, "If you didn't sign the log sheet, you didn't make the find."

You are now ready to begin solving the murder using an INTERCACHE. There are nine locations and there is a weapon or suspect that you can add to your inventory upon arrival at each location. To get the final coordinates you must have the correct  weapon and suspect in your inventory when arrive at the correct location. I've set the proximity radius to 50' which should give users plenty flexibility in their smartphone coverage. Stealth may be required at the final.

WHAT IS AN INTERCACHE?
An InterCache is an interactive mystery geocache that can string together virtual and physical waypoints. The entire geocache can be be developed, edited, and played on a your smartphone's browser with no additional software required. It's part virtual cache, part multicache, part puzzle cache, and part adventure.

HOW DO YOU PLAY?
Before playing, check your device to be sure that it is compatible. Go to intercaching.com on your smartphone and click the TEST button. Most modern smartphones should be compatible. After checking your device, park at the posted coordinates, click on the InterCache link on your smartphone and click on the first waypoint given. Use the distance and compass readings to navigate to the waypoint. Once you arrive at the requested location within the required proximity, retrieve a "virtual item" from the location. Bringing the correct item to the correct location will reveal the final coordinates.

NOTES:
• An InterCache is a new way of finding geocaches. You may encounter unexpected problems.
• Open up the InterCache in a Safari browser window. Trying to open the InterCache with the link in the gc.com app may cause issues.
• Do NOT close the active InterCache browser window during play or you may have to start over.
• During the testing phase on my iPhone, I found it necessary to reset my geolocations. Go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Location & Privacy
• I would love to hear any construct comments on your experience.

A special thanks to ChileHead for developing InterCache and his assistance in developing this cache.

UPDATE:
A large gated dog park has been constructed since this cache was placed. You should still be able to complete the InterCache by entering the gated area. If the gates are locked are you have trouble with access, please let me know and I will look into it.
