Intro
Please respect all headstones. A lot of work has gone into making sure they remain for generations to discover.
I'm attempting to place caches in as many of Decatur County cemeteries as I can. Take your time and enjoy yourself. You don't have to stop at every headstone, but, please, slow down and look around you. Grave markers can tell a story, or at the very least make you wonder what the story really is. I'd prefer my cemetery caches not be park and grabs.
History
Like a few other cemeteries in the county, this one is just one step away from being unreadable and forgotten. Most of the stones are eroded beyond recognition or have fallen/broken.
Headstones to Look For
- John Caldwell : Located in the center of the cemetery. Veteran of the War of 1812. 1/19/1790 - 4/20/1873
- Joseph Frakes : Located in the far SE corner near the fenced in area. The stone is half buried. Veteran of the War of 1812. 6/6/1771 - 5/9/1854.
- William Billington : Another veteran of the War of 1812. His gave can not be located but, according to records, he was buried here.
