Geocache Description:

After a Boy Scout Trip to our property out here, which got me to thinking, "I should leave a geocache here!" Since I had several spare ones with me, I decided to place one. This cache is a distant relative to a series found in Payson, UT, our hometown. See the original for more info: The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

*NOTE: The posted coordinates are NOT the final location of this cache & log. See below for more info.*

When you arrive at the posted coordinates, you'll see a dirt road that goes left, due north up the hill away from the paved road (Snail Hollow Drive). The cache you seek is hidden a ways up this road. The road is accessible most of the year, though 4-wheel drive is helpful, especially in the winter time. As you head up the road, you'll pass a Tuff shed on your right just off the road some 40 ft; that is roughly half-way to your final destination. Continue heading up the hill, and look off to your right hand side (eastward) for a birdhouse made from a gourd, hanging in a tree. Not that it is not on the side of the road, but a good 30 feet off the road, so keep your eyes peeled for it. It is painted bright colors, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find.

Once you find it, look around the tree for something that doesn't belong...this is a disguised microcache, and a toothpick (or something similiar) is advised to remove the log). Once you find what you're looking for, pull the bottom off carefully, twisting back and forth as you go, so as not to damage the cache. Carefully replace it as found to preserve it for future cachers. Please let me know if it ever needs maintanence; I get up here around once a month, so I can check on it as needed. It should be sturdy, but the winters can be brutal up there. Also, be respectful of the area and leave it as you found it or better.
