Geocache Description:

Monday, January 13, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at a certain local pizza place that has hosted a number of geo-events over the years.

Welcome to 2014!  GIG events are organized by local female cachers, but all are welcome to attend. The whole back room is reserved for our group.

January always seems to be a rather boring month (or so I thought).  So, I was thinking about a theme for the GiG and found that January 13 is a pretty memorable day!

Here are a couple of my favorite things that happened on this day in history.

1559 - Elizabeth I crowned queen of England in Westminster Abbey

1863 - Thomas Crapper pioneers one-piece pedestal flushing toilet

1888 - National Geographic Society founded in Washington, D.C.

1920 - New York Times editorial (falsely) reports rockets can never fly

1957 - Wham-O Company produces the 1st Frisbee
