This cache is located on a point, close to the ferry landing. To get there, you will have to walk on a small, well marked trail. There could be a bit of blowdown on the trail. It is not a strenuous hike, but there are some steep sections and sturdy footwear is essential. This is a loop and there are 2 trailheads.
The views you will get on Skidegate inlet are magical. Just before the point itelf, you will see a cute little cabin the size of a kid's treehouse (at coordinates N 53 13.045 W 131 59.206). This cabin was built by a local for his grandson. The cabin is open and you are welcome to come in and leave a note in the logbook. Please leave the cabin clean and tidy.
As you get onto the point, you will pass through salal, where river otters and raccoon live. Look up as there are 2 very nice features there. First, there is a huge eagle's nest, and a little farther down, a dead tree that is a favourite spot for eagles (mommy and daddy like to keep a close eye on the kids). The point has a small stack of stones, set in a regular pattern. This was built during WWII, probably to support an observation tower.
The cache is right there!
