This cache was placed for my birthday. There needs to be more caches out here so I thought why not? The Socorro Nature Center is located near the Bosque and fairly close to the freeway. It has nice trails to walk through and if you need a break from traveling, it's a good place to go and stretch your legs. There is also a gas station near by if you need to top off your tank.
Here are some general directions:
- Take the Lemitar exit# 156
- Head East on Hwy 408
- Cross rail road tracks and bridge
- You will come to a T. Take a right (you will see a sign for the center, .7mi)
- Take your immediate left (Another sign, .5mi)
- Road turns into a dirt road. Follow it all the way to the nature center
There are gates that are usually locked, so park outside the center and walk in. When you walk in, to the left is a welcome center in the middle of center. There is a box there where you can sign your name and get a brochure with info about the center. From there you will see a trail to your left. Take the trail and walk to trail marker# 3. There the cache will be a little off the trail. There is a letter box located in the host as well as a geocache. Please leave the stamp with the box. It is to stay with the letterbox. Please bring your own ink for the stamp. FTF get an unactivated geocoin!!
