ARE YOU PREPARED FOR A NEW ADVENTURE!!!

In 1906 an experimental camp was held on Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour in August by the founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell. In 1908 BP wrote a series of magazines called Scouting for Boys explaining the Scout Method. The Scout method is the principal method by which the Scouting organizations, boy and girl, operate their units. WOSM describes Scouting as "…a voluntary nonpolitical educational movement for young people open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles and method conceived by the Founder..." It is the goal of Scouting to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.” After the publication Scout patrols were created all around the UK and by the end of the year it went of shore to many British Empire nations including Australia. The Boy Scout Association of Australia, now Scouts Australia or officially The Scout Association of Australia was founded and the Queensland Branch the following year. There are now 40 million scouts and leaders worldwide, 80 000 in Australia and 10 000 in Queensland. The above coordinates should place you right in front of Scout Place. The plaque was unveiled on Founders Day, 22nd February, 1984 by Lord Mayor Roy Harvey to commemorate 75 years of Scouting in Queensland.
