EarthCaching Decade Celebration Event Cache

On this date in 2004, on a headland 3 hrs south of Sydney, Australia the very first EarthCache was 'placed' by Geoaware and his two daughters.

Let's celebrate this historic event of a decade ago by gathering together along the scenic Wapsipinicon River just north of Tripoli, Iowa.

This event may not be like a traditional one you may have attended in the past. We will gather at the site of an existing EarthCache, Wapsi White Potato, and participate in a hike into the winter wonderland along the Wapsi River.

Plan to gather at 4:30 pm. Sunset is slated for 4:55 that day and the moon will be just past first quarter and growing toward a full moon. Please come prepared for walking in snow . . . boots, snow pants or coveralls, hat, gloves or mittens are highly encouraged. We will walk between the Wapsi River and Sweet Marsh and enjoy winter together.

I will bring hot water for cocoa, cider or tea. If you would like to bring a hearty treat to share to fuel our bellies after the hike, feel free to do so although it is not necessary. My plan is for the event to be wrapped up with a group photo by 5:30 pm.
