Lapham Peak's butterfly garden is located only about .33 miles from the parking lot and just off the Kame Terrace Trail (a wide mowed path, marked by purple signs). The trailhead begins at the "Homestead" parking lot at N 43° 02.384 W 088° 23.589, which has water and restrooms available.
We found a fun cache container at Geowoodstock in Missouri and we thought we could use it as a backup for our "I Spy a Butterfly" cache in Wauwatosa. While hiding a few caches for the 2014 WGA geo-picnic we found this butterfly garden and thought it would make a great location for a cache hide. We decided this container would work well at this location so we decided to place it here.
Please take care to stay on the paths in the garden to not trample the vegetation. This is a great location to bring people to see; we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Brett Johanen of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form.
