From this location the old Bridge can be seen, it has a majestic look in the afternoon light.
The Bridgewater bridge has a long heritage. There has been three bridges crossing the Derwent river, the current lift bridge was completed in 1946. The remnants of the second bridge can still be seen, the sandstone abutments and the pivot of the swing bridge. These bridges have always formed the link between northern Tasmania and Hobart.
