Geocache Description:

A Letterbox Hybrid hidden on Strawberry Mountain. It is well hidden: taking the spoiler pictures is highly recommended. In addition to the normal logbook and trade items, it also contains a letterbox stamp, inkpad, and stamp book. Please do not remove the stamp, ink pad, or stamp book. THEY ARE NOT TRADE ITEMS!

Greenwood the great was a large forest, 600 miles long and 250 miles wide. It was the first stopping point of the elves at the beginning of middle earth, preceding even the First Age. Many elves chose to stay there rather than journeying back to Valinor. It remained a mild climated, beautiful forest until midway through the Third Age, when Sauron, disguised as the Necromancer, established his fortress at Dol Guldur. From this point on it was known as Mirkwood.

It is only fitting that this letterbox is hidden in the largest ponderosa pine forest in the world. Strawberry Mountain doesn't have any human trails to reach the top, so prepare for some rough bush-wacking in places. I suggest you park at the trailhead (see parking) then hike to the northeast ridgeline, and work your way up (south). At times you will find an elf trail, but it is hard to find and easy to lose. The waypoints may be helpful. There is a defile to cross, then climb the hill and go to the edge. The letterbox is not visible from above, you will have to go down slightly to find it.

This is a letterbox hybrid. In addition to the normal logbook and trade items, it also contains a letterbox stamp, inkpad, and stamp book. Please do not remove the stamp, ink pad, or stamp book. THEY ARE NOT TRADE ITEMS!
