This year's Geobash will be in the Central Black Hills, south of Hill City at the Horse Thief Campground. Being centrally located, we will be close to many popular destinations in the Black hills including Custer State Park, Sylvan Lake, Harney Peak, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, etc. There are over 400 caches within a 15 mile radius of all types, terrains, and difficulties including several Earth Caches. Miles of wilderness hiking trails are also nearby if you just want to get away from everyone.
This will be a single 3 day event, beginning at 2:00 pm Friday and concluding Sunday morning. You are free to come and go all weekend. New caches will be published on Saturday morning for those who want to seek those.
If you plan on camping, you will need to make EARLY reservations. There are cabins, RV sites, and tent spots to choose from. Be sure to let them know you are with the Black Hills Area Geocachers and they will accommodate you. You are responsible for any reservation / camping fees. Camping is NOT required to attend the event. If you choose not to camp, there are nearby motels, or if you live locally in the area you may just attend any or all of activities.
