PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE "RELATED WEB PAGE." THERE IS A LOT MORE INFORMATION THERE.
Mark your calendars. We will meet on Saturday afternoon at 6PM at very near Capitol Lake. The event will go from 6PM until 10PM on Saturday night. On Sunday morning after the close of the event, there are a few of us that are planning to head over toward Capitol Peak and go for the Virtual there. If you're interested in joining us, please contact the CO directly (or include your intentions in your Will Attend Log).
This event requires a 12+ mile hike (6 miles each way to overnight camping). As Colorado hikes go, this one is pretty easy, though long. The views are AMAZING!!! You will have to consider weather when you start the hike, as it will be the middle of thunderstorm season in the area. There are a lot of exposed areas along the hike, but all are below treeline.
If you are planning to camp, you will probably want a "Wilderness" camping kit. Tent, sleeping bag, pad, backpack, food, water, rain gear, etc. See the "Related Web Page" for recommendations on what to bring.
You will need a higher-clearance vehicle to get to the trail head. Subaru Outback or high-clearance pickup is fine, but a normal passenger car will probably not make it.
Continuing on to any other geographic feature in the area will be an individual decision and is NOT part of this event.
Side note: Some of you know HikingFool. He is selling his lightweight, back country gear. Reach out if you are interested.
