Derwent Valley Trail #8 St.Augustines Church Traditional Cache

Welcome to New Norfolk, in this series you will learn a little about the surrounding areas of our town. These caches will take you in a loop around the upper Derwent Valley, and back to New Norfolk via both sides of the river, show casing some of the highlights from the very old to the not so old. 13 lucky (or un) caches will lead you to a final cache. All caches have been placed at the safest points possible, and if possible away from any muggle activity.

Built in 1904 St Augustine's church is nestled in the picturesque hopfields at Macquarie Plains. This beautiful little church has experienced huge floods over the years, with the 1960 flood almost reaching the guttering, where a small plaque now records the level.
