This is a lovely walk through the woods, located between the villages of Windermere and Bowness. Sherriff's Walk was named after G. H. Pattinson who originally presented this land to the public. As well as being a well known builder and boat collector he was a former 'High Sherriff of his native county'.
Directions: On the main road between Windermere and Bowness there is a lay-by, opposite Queens Drive with parking for a few cars. Go through the gate and walk past a row of cottages. Go through the woods and head for the waterfall where the cache can be located nearby.
Sherriff's Walk can be seen on a free map of Windermere and Bowness which can be obtained from the Touris Information office and various shops. You can also purchase, from the Tourist Office, various walks in the area including one which takes in Sherriff's Walk and is entitled ' East of the Lake'.
