Geocache Description:

This was my first hide and placed alongside one of our favourite walks with the dogs.  It has changed over the years due to the hide being sabotaged several times.  The cache is a small box with treasure.!

This is a lovely walk through the woods, located between the villages of Windermere and Bowness.  Sherriff's Walk was named after G. H. Pattinson who originally presented this land to the public.  As well as being a well known builder and boat collector he was a former 'High Sherriff of his native county'.

Directions:  On the main road between Windermere and Bowness there is a lay-by, opposite Queens Drive with parking for a few cars.  Go through the gate and walk past a  row of cottages.   Go through the woods and head for the waterfall and the cache is located on the way.

Sherriff's Walk can be seen on a free map of Windermere and Bowness which can be obtained from the Information office and various shops.  You can also purchase various walks in the area including one which takes in Sherriff's Walk and is entitled ' East of the Lake'.
