Boyle Park is the second oldest park in Little Rock and the coordinates for the event will take you to parking for pavilion 3. With the assistance of fellow geocacher Sayitagain, the park will be divided into sections for groups to go out and collect trash. We will meet at 9am and work until about 11am. Trash then will be hauled back to the pavilion and we will have a wrap up with door prizes and pictures with a plan to be finished with everything by about noon.
Enter the park from University Avenue or Colonel Glenn via 36th Street. If there have been recent heavy rains, some roads in Boyle Park may be closed. If this happens, we will make an event announcement and you can still get to the pavilion by taking Leander Drive off of Kanis Road.
Cotton and latex gloves, safety vests, trash bags, bottled water and some goodies for volunteers will be provided by the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission.
Please bring work gloves, insect repellant, sunscreen, water and wear clothing appropriate for a clean-up event. If it has rained recently, the area likely will be muddy. We will have a first aid kit on hand.
If you have a truck and would be willing to haul trash bags from other areas of the park back to the pavilion, your help would be much appreciated.
There are restrooms located by the pavilion.
If you need a sit down job or “light duty,” please let us know in your post or send us a separate email. We will need assistance with sending volunteers out to different parts of the park, estimating the weight of the trash collected and handing out door prizes.
We welcome any donation of door prizes for the event.
There also is a rumor that there may also be a few new geocaches in the area in time for the CITO event.
Everyone who logs an “Attended” at a Cache In Trash Out (CITO) Event on April 26 or 27 earns 2014’s CITO souvenir for their Geocaching profile.
Never been to a CITO before? No problem! During a CITO Event, geocachers search parks, trails and forests to earn a smiley—but they’re not looking for geocaches. They’re clearing litter and trash from geocaching-friendly areas around the world. On CITO weekend, thousands of geocachers will walk away from their events with bags of trash and a sense of pride. They’re preserving the natural beauty of our world. Last year, over 13,000 geocachers from more than 30 countries combined in the annual worldwide environmental effort, which is tied closely with Earth Day.
