Wargiksen tila
Richard ja Amanda Warg rakensivat tälle Wargiksen tilalle oman, isomman talon Richardin vanhempien talon viereen vuonna 1910. Tontilla oli asuinrakennusten lisäksi liiteri, sauna, navetta ja venevaja. Nykyään jäljellä on vain venevaja. Muiden rakennusten sijainnista kertovat siellä täällä lojuvat kivikasat.
Richard Warg oli toimelias ihminen, kuuluisa kauppias ja peloton aktivisti. Hän auttoi jääkäreiksi aikovia suomalaisia ylittämään Merenkurkun. Ruotsista he jatkoivat matkaansa koulutettaviksi Saksaan. Kieltolain aikana hän salakuljetti viinaa ja myi sitä kymmenen litran peltikanistereissa sekä paikallisille että kaupunkilaisille.
Nykyään Wargista hallinnoi Metsähallituksen Pohjanmaan luontopalvelut. Wargiksen alueella on 0,8km pituinen luontopolku.
Warg’s homestead
At Warg’s homestead, Richard and Amanda Warg built their own, larger house next to Richard’s parent’s cottage. The homestead included a residential building, an outhouse, shed, sauna, cowshed and boatshed. Today the only building still standing is the boatshed. The whereabouts of the other buildings can only be seen as piles of stones here and there.
Richard Warg had many and varied pursuits. He was known as a merchant and brave activist. Before the Freedom War 1918, he transported prospective partisans over the Kvarken (Botnia Narrows). From Sweden the men continued to Germany for their basic training. During the period of Prohibitation, Richard Warg smuggled liquor and sold it in 10 litre tin cans, both to the locals and to visiting townpeople.
Today Metsähallitus, Nature Heritage Services manages Warg’s. There is a 0,8km long nature trail in the area.
