Geocache Description:

In addition to Evil Edna's long-planned Busy Bees CITO, this event extends the CITO weekend into a second day and offers a chance for local cachers to claim the CITO souvenir on the Sunday.

The event takes place on 27th April between 2pm and 3:30pm.

Groundspeak CITO Weekend 26th April to 27th April

At time of submission, there didn't seem to be many CITO events taking place on Sunday, 27th April so, with the intention of extending the CITO weekend across both days, we've planned out the following event.

During my last visit to the area, I noticed a large amount of litter on the footpath that parallels Corinium Avenue running down to LP15 so the area should be ripe for a good CITO.

The Plan

The plan is to meet at the published coordinates and then make our way as a group from the Starting Coordinates to the Final Coordinates collecting litter as we go. The route is very flat so it probably will not take more than an hour to complete.

Tentatively, we hope to bring a bike trailer or wheelbarrow so that we can separate rubbish out on the route and take it around to the local Recycling Centre rather than committing it to landfill. Anything that cannot be recycled will be taken away for normal rubbish collection (we're hoping that there won't be much left over!)

Things To Be Aware Of

  • It is strongly recommended that cachers come prepared. Sturdy gloves, sturdy footwear and clothing if we don't get good caching weather.
  • We will bring a number of sturdy rubbish bags for litter collection but feel free to bring your own.
  • At various points along the route the path is quite narrow and is in fairly regular use by pedestrians and cyclists alike. Please be considerate of non-cachers and do your best not to obstruct their progress
  • There is some work ongoing at the Walls Roundabout at the moment and, in the event that this interrupts the planned route, we may have to change the starting point on the day.
  • The route is separated from the busy main road by hedge row and fence along most of its length and also crosses over the entrance to the Walls factory - while there shouldn't be much traffic on a Sunday, it may still have trucks entering and/or exiting. If you also include cyclists coming down the footpath, there are a number of hazards that mean geokids and geohounds should be watched to make sure they remain safe.
  • We will try to have some very basic first aid materials (plasters etc...) on hand but remind attendees that they are responsible for their own welfare and that of any geokids or geohounds attending with them.
