Geocache Description:

The barn quilt is on the same old building the cache is located near.  You DO NOT need to search under or walk around the building at all.  Container is a camo small pill bottle that is magnetic. Please replace the container carefully.

Cache placed with permission of property owners Jamie & Rebecca Charles (who both happen to be members of the same Lions club we belong to – the Brussels Lions Club).

Quilt/barn specifics: This farm was recognized by the Kewaunee Quilt Project for the old German barn on the property.  The family still farms on the adjoining land while also being employed in another profession.
The quilt was painted by the Lincoln Champions 4-H club which included members of the Charles family (who are probably watching you from the house and enjoying seeing you look for the container).

Kewaunee County Barn Quilt Project:  The quilt is one of 18 placed in Kewaunee and southern Door County in 2008-2009 as a joint project of over 125 area 4-H and FFA students who worked with the community designing and painting quilts for historically-significant barns.
Inspired by the Sac County Iowa Barn Quilts, the Kewaunee County Area Barn Quilt project began in January 2008. The project consisted of several stages. A kick-off meeting was held in November 2008, when barn history, quilt and color theory, and the painting technique were introduced. Next, the 4-H and FFA students met with their farm families learning about their barns and choosing a pattern. Painting followed and all quilts were finished by the end of the year. The first quilts were hung on a blustery Saturday in February 2009. The weather called for 1 to 2 inches of snow but by the time 6 quilts had been hung, there was 14 inches of snow on the ground! The following Tuesday three more quilts were hung in the freezing rain! The last quilts were hung in June.
Please tread lightly as you search out the caches.  CITO and BYOP.  Feel free to post pictures of the barn quilts, but please don’t give away the cache location or container.
Happy Caching!
