The cache is located at the foot of a tall spruce in the middle of a blowdown area. It is not a particularly huge spruce but it dwarfs all its very young neighbours. You can see the tree from afar and it clearly stands out in the landscape.
To get there is not a long walk, but you will need a high clearance vehicle to get to the trailhead. The other nearby cache called “Charlotte’s view” gives you instructions as to how to access mount Poole from the Alliford bay road.
The walk in the forest is hard, as it is an old growth area that has been blown down. There are logs, fallen trees, and moss everywhere. The trail is flagged with orange tape.
