Beckmans Island CITO Cache In Trash Out Event

This cache has been archived.

Goldfinch593: Time to archive this CITO Event. Thank you again to everyone who came out to help with the clean-up of Beckcman's Island! I am happy to report that the area is still in good shape. I received a note from a cacher who was out there last weekend and he told me he collected another bag of trash while enjoying the area. If we all do that, hopefully, we can keep this area clean!

Thanks everyone! [:)]

Geocache Description:

Please join us on Saturday, May 24th, from 9:00 AM - Noon for a very special, and badly needed, Cache In - Trash Out event at Beckmans Island in Seabrook, NH.

Beckmans Island is one of the prettiest spots in Seabrook, with beautiful views of the surrounding salt marsh and Mill Creek.  A trail passes through the tall trees in the center of the island.  When walking here, it feels as if you have entered a magical forest.  This island is privately owned, but the Beckman family generously allows public access so everyone can enjoy this wonderful place.

Unfortunately, litter and debris has been collecting here at Beckmans Island for some time, some washed up throughout the winter as well as litter and debris carelessly left behind by muggles. I know that many Geocachers have enjoyed this location, too, (wink, wink) so what better way to say thank you to the Beckman family than by helping to clean up the trash and restore the beauty of this special place!

Trash bags will be provided.  Please bring work gloves if you have them.  And remember... this is a tidal area.  The salt marsh surrounding the island will be wet.  High tide here on the morning of the event is at 8:30 AM.  Rubber boots, or other waterproof footwear is advised!  We will be cleaning the parking area, the path that leads to the island, and the island itself.

Coffee and donuts, and drinking water will also be provided, and after the clean-up, we are planning to gather at Brown's Lobster Pound for lunch.  Hope you can join us!

WHEN: Saturday - MAY 24th 9:00 AM to Noon
WHERE: Beckmans Island - there is room for parking at the landing at the end of Farm Road
WHAT TO BRING: Gloves and Enthusiasm
