Geocache Description:

It has been a couple of Flash Mobs since I hosted one, but what could top the last one at the Joliet Prison?  Well Star Wars Themed one of course.  So bring or wear Star Wars items if you have them.  Trust me you will fit right in.  We will meet near the Joliet Public Library on the south east corner at 12:00.  We will locate a good picture spot and around 12:10 we will get our group photo.  If all the stars align we might even have some members of the 501st join us for the photo.  There was also be a raffle for an unactivated WWFM XI Geocoin with Duple Tag. Then at 12:15 we dispurse and enjoy the rest of the day of caching.

As a side note this event will put you in an area where it will be easy to secure a 6-7 icon day.  I will be working on getting a LBH placed nearby as that is the only main icon not in the area

Now a little about the history of World Wide Flash Mob Day.

WWFM – World Wide Flash Mobs – Thousands of geocachers at dozens of coordinated events all around the globe, gathering at the same time.

Sonny and Sandy came up with the WWFM idea after attending a mega-event. It was meant to be a fun “opposite” of a mega-event. These caching events are intended to bring together geocachers and introduce others (newbies) to the hobby.

WWFM History:
Flash Mob I – May 2007 – almost 200 San Diego, CA geocachers; 20 world-wide events
WWFM II – Nov 2007 – 4400 attendees at 83 events in 9 countries
WWFM III – May 2008 – almost 8000 attendees at 163 events in 15 countries
WWFM IV – Nov 2008 – 7400 people at 154 events in 20 countries
WWFM V – May 2009 – over 7000 people at 154 events in 20 countries
WWFM VI – Nov 2009 – almost 7000 people at 152 events in 21 countries
WWFM VII – May 2010 – almost 6000 people at 139 events in 19 countries
WWFM VIII - June 2011 - 9940 people at 215 events in 25 countries
WWFM IX - June 2012 - 15,487 people at 312 events in 31 countries worldwide
WWFM X - May 4, 2013 -  Attended by 25,125 people!!! 558 events in 42 countries.

NEXT SCHEDULED: WWFM XI
Saturday June 7, 2014 – 12:00-12:15 p.m.

Check out the official Geocaching WWFM webpage for attendee information, news, history, and to view photos and videos from previous WWFM events from around the world! You can purchase official WWFM geocoins and pathtags there as well.

Just like last year's WWFM, there is a special geocaching souvenir in the works for this event! Team Podcacher has been working with Groundspeak to get a great design approved for the souvenir, but there are no guarantees at the current time. The only way to get this possible souvenir is to attend a WWFM event!
