Simply messing Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

ThurgoodWhitechapel: Cache has had a good run since 2014, with 100 finds, some of them on second attempts after an unlogged DNF (mentioned in the Found it log).

An inspection after the first logged DNF indicated the cache has indeed gone missing.

I'd also noticed when passing by on the road that the stability of the host has deteriorated recently (Possibly due to more water in the soil in the past year).

Time to remove the cache and open up some space for others in the surrounding area.

Geocache Description:

"Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing—absolute nothing—half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing," he went on dreamily: "messing—about—in—boats; messing—about in boats—or with boats."

— Rat, to Mole from “The Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame

If you’re here at the right time, you may get to see several people ‘messing about with boats’ among the pylons in the nearby water. The good thing about being here then is that you’ll have a plausible reason for standing around at the side of the road—you’re there to watch the RC model boat races. The bad thing about being there then is that it will be close to impossible to find and retrieve the cache, sign the log, and replace it without being muggled.

At other times, though, it’ll be just you in this exposed space, just you, and the passing muggles on the road. Fortunately, there aren’t many hiding places for a cache in the area, either, and you should be able to log a QEF.

NOTE: The cache is NOT hidden in the concrete box with a wooden lid, located near the coördinates. Please do not disturb this box.

The container is a tiny knurled brass tube, containing only a log strip. BYOP. Reclose carefully; it's easy to cross-thread the lids on these. Tightening gently, and only until it's snug.

Please take care that the container is hanging below the ring when re-hiding.
