Moose Mountain Ice Cave Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

brendan714: I checked up on this cache on August 6 and I can confirm that it is gone. With the cave being only about 150 m long and the entrance not really seeming like a suitable spot to hide a replacement (loose rock hazard, LOTS of muggles around), I've decided to archive this cache and place a new one. The cache finding experience for the new cache is significantly different than this one, so I think it makes sense to archive this cache instead of moving it. Enjoy!

Geocache Description:

This small L & L geocache is located near the Moose Mountain Ice Cave (also called the Canyon Creek Ice Cave). The trailhead to the ice cave is approximately 6 kilometers from the Ing's Mine parking lot on an old access road. Although you can walk this distance in about an hour, I highly recommend you take your bike! Once at the trailhead, you have a 1 kilometer hike with an elevation gain of about 200 meters to reach the cave.

*** Note: GPSr reception is very poor around here because of the cliffs. As such, I've rated it a 4* difficulty. I recommend that you bring both spoiler pictures along with you as this will make your search much easier!***

If you plan to take some time to explore the ice cave, bring a helmet and a light with extra batteries along with you and don't go alone! If you come in the right season you will see magnificent stalactites (from the ceiling) and stalagmites (from the ground) made of ice!

Since its discovery in 1905 by Stan Fullerton, this cave has drawn spelunkers of all ages and experience to explore its magnificent ice formations! To help preserve this awesome location for future generations, please clean up after your visit.
