Geocache Description:

Restaurant sat on this corner in the 1960's.  It was a popular breakfast stop for people traveling over Gold Mine Road enroute to Fort Indiantown Gap via SR72 and SR443.  Many locals frequented it, also.  We would ride our bicycles here for a coke and ice cream cone.  Once Interstate 81 opened, the traffic between Pine Grove and Lickdale greatly decreased.  Cache is about 1 mile RT from Trout Run parking lot.

Betty & Jerry's Restaurant cache is located within the 3,520-acre Swatara State Park that consists of rolling fields and woodlands situated in the Swatara Valley between Second and Blue Mountains.  Scenic Swatara Creek meanders the length of the park and is surrounded by forests and wetlands that support a diversity of wildlife.  Swatara Creek is a popular destination for canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and trout fishing especially in the spring.  The park also features 10 miles of mountain biking trails.  Additionally, the Swatara Rail Trail can be explored from Lickdale to the I-81 Pine Grove interchange and its trail grade is relatively flat with variable surfaces (stone, gravel, and pavement).  Please abide by park rules and regulations.  Park hours are dawn till dusk.  Hunting is allowed so wear orange.  Please be advised that by the order of DCNR, you are required to park in specified parking areas only.  Failure to comply might result in the cache removal.
