Geocache Description:

This cache was placed for the Cache and Release event in Beaver Dam, WI on August 23, 2014. Coordinates for the final cache are gained during a nice walk through one of Beaver Dam's best parks. Permission for the final's placement was granted by Doug L.

Welcome to Swan Park! This was once known as Vita Park or “much good water” due to a natural spring thought to contain healing waters. You will need to explore this beautiful area to find the final coordinates.

Final is nearby at N 43 AB.CDE, W 88 FG.HIJ

Around the park grounds there are several brick columns which have little metal “urns” on the top which used to house lights to illuminate the park. Find the total # of columns that have “urns” and subtract 8 to find the final letter “H”. Remember to look carefully, even in the corners of the park. Heed my advice and count these as you go.

Directly ahead of you is the Vita Spring Park Pavilion at N 43 27.093, W 88 49.768. Find the nearby historical plaque. The city purchased the land in 190B.

Underneath the pavilion is a rock water cistern with a number carved into it. “14G

Look for the golden eagle on the pavilion and he will point the way to the shelter with a fireplace. There you will find that Orrin Hofferbert lived to be 7D years old.

The splash pad is to the south. Multiply the number of Beavers x 2 (one may be hiding) to get “I”.

Now find the playground with the train. The train is easy to find because it is blue and is divided up into “F” pieces.

Have you been counting the columns with the “urns”? Two of these in the Northwest corner of the park still have their light globes on top. Make sure you include them.

Look for the horseshoe pits. J = pairs of horseshoe pits.

The large band shell hosts Wednesday night shows in the summer. The number of bench rows = E1

Just past the benches is a memorial plaque for Pammie Schultz. Look carefully near the base of a smaller tree. The years she lived – 3 = C

Find the playground near the volleyball court. You have been walking a lot and may want to rest on one of the “A” benches. The final is a short drive or walk away.

Now find the final near a building also named after the healing waters.
