Geocache Description:

As kids we would swim in this section of Trout Run.  We built a rock dam and constructed a homemade diving board.  Now, this stream attracts many anglers for it is the park's only trout stocked stream.  Other cold-water tributaries within the park support native populations of brook trout.  There is a small path from Goldmine Trail that leads to the old swimming hole.  After that a bit of bush whacking is required, so long pants are recommended.

Greenpoint Swimming Hole cache is located within the 3,520-acre Swatara State Park that consists of rolling fields and woodlands situated in the Swatara Valley between Second and Blue Mountains.  Scenic Swatara Creek meanders the length of the park and is surrounded by forests and wetlands that support a diversity of wildlife.  Swatara Creek is a popular destination for canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and trout fishing especially in the spring.  The park also features 10 miles of mountain biking trails.  Additionally, the Swatara Rail Trail can be explored from Lickdale to the I-81 Pine Grove interchange, and its trail grade is relatively flat with variable surfaces (stone, gravel, and pavement).  Please abide by park rules and regulations.  Park hours are dawn till dusk.  Hunting is allowed so wear orange.  Please be advised that by the order of DCNR, you are required to park in specified parking areas only.  Failure to comply might result in the cache removal.
