In 2013, after 8 years of work, this section of trail was built, which connects many people who live north of Boulder Junction to the bike trail system.
This trail is the new standard in bike and walking trails, with a wider pavement, required signage, crossing markers, and wetlands bridges. The trail is smooth and easy to ride, and also great for kids and families. It provides a safer travel path than riding the county highway into and from town.
This build also included a western section, which starts with marked bike lanes just west of the business district, and then becomes a single wide paved trail on the south side of the county highway.
I served as co-chair of the committee that built this section of trail. It was a labor of love, and of cooperation, with the Wis. DNR, Wis DOT, Vilas County Highway Dept. and the Town of Boulder Junction.
Hope you enjoy our trails in the Boulder Junction area!
