Geocache Description:

A quick cache where the Green trail branches off from the Red Trail.  Here are the only remaining trail signs that I know of, dating back to before 1975.

Note that the name of the red trail is actually the Mossy Pond West Trail with the blue trail being the Mossy Pond East Trail.  You will find these designations on a few maps.  The green trail that breaks off from here “to Lake Sterling” connects the Red and Blue trails and was once a quick connector.  A recent check finds the trail in good shape but lacking marking at some critical turns that could leave you very lost. Update 2015: I did a bunch of marking on the green trail, give it a try!.

After crossing the dam the red trail can be hard to find.   The trail breaks off at N39° 21.463’ W120° 29.523’ (Red Trail split).

For detailed driving directions, trail info and trail map, visit the Lake Sterling cache page GC57M2W (related web page).

Congratulations to retiredprof and Abbie on getting the first to find. They did it again!
