Mackey Cemetery Traditional Geocache

This cache is one of a few caches that we have placed by cemeteries in Boone County. You will not have to directly walk through the cemetery to get to the cache as there is an adjacent park to the south of the cache site, but please feel free to explore the cemetery. Please be respectful of the property.

***Be advised that we saw a raccoon within 100' of GZ on the day that we placed this cache. It was out during the day and might have had distemper or even rabies. Please keep your pets in the car and kids at a safe distance from this animal if you see it.***

Mackey Cemetery, also known as Mackey Center Cemetery or Center Cemetery, is located in the SW 1/4 Section 22 of Harrison Township, Boone County, Iowa. The cemetery is located adjacent (south) of Mackey United Methodist Church. The town of Mackey was once a small hamlet in the northwest corner of Harrison Township, however it became a ghost town. Only the church, cemetery, a couple small buildings, and a few family farms remain. This cemetery is well-kept.
