This cache is a clip lock box in a camouflage bag with a pencil and a log. This it is hidden in National Trust grounds and is only available to find during 11:00 and 17:00. Take a walk around the ice house pond to find this cache – head to the woods and see what you can find.
Gunby Hall is a homely country house dated 1700 set in Victorian walled gardens at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds, with links to Tennyson, Darwin and Vaughan-Williams there is so much to discover about the family home of the Massingberd family.
During the winter ice would have been collected from the pond and stored in the ice house where it could have been used as a source of ice during the summer, pre-refrigeration. The former ice house is hidden beneath the overgrowth on the eastern side of the pond.
