Geocache Description:

This is one in a series of geocaches placed by Texas A&M Forest Service to showcase various aspects of the agency and properties it manages. This is located at the West Texas Nursery.

West Texas Nursery first opened its doors in 1978 producing trees primarily West Texas for windbreaks and conservation plantings. In 2008, 53 acres were purchased just outside of Idalou for a new facility. This facility includes 2 greenhouses, a lath house, and 15 acres dedicated to the production of bareroot hardwood seedlings. The greenhouse can grow up to 140,000 containerized seedlings each year, while the outdoor planting fields can accommodate an additional 200,000 hardwood seedlings.

West Texas Nursery is open during regular business hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday. For additional information, visit the nursery at 7914 East Hwy 62, Idalou, TX 79329 or call (806) 892-3572.
