Geocache Description:

Lac des Arcs gets a ton of visitors over the summer at this site and the 3 roadside pull outs along the TransCanada Highway. Many times over the summer trash cans are overflowing, creating an animal attractant and wildlife hazards.  Much of it blows into and across the lake. Please come help us put this area into the pristine condition it deserves!  We will meet at 9:30am at the day use area in the Lac des Arcs recreation area and aim to almost circle the lake with volunteers. We'll hope to have it all done by noon! Alberta Parks will be on hand with bags, tools, gloves and direction for us all. Bring the kids, but remember that the area has many hazards including steep drop offs, some bouldering at lakeside, tons of mud and really, really cold water.

Things you need to bring:

Bug spray and sunscreen,

Bear spray or the ability to make a ton of noise,

Your hydration of choice (alcohol is not allowed in the recreation area),

Any nibbles you might need (in well sealed containers),

Solid walking/hiking shoes (closed toe preferred) and rubber boots if you intend to walk the shore,

Clothing appropriate to changing mountain weather,

Work gloves/rubber gloves,

Eye protection for walking in the trees (sunglasses or safety glasses), and

A good sense of humour and a love of the mountains!

Please log a 'will attend' so we have some idea of numbers - coffee, granola bars and fruit chews will be provided!

A canoe will be available (weather permitting) to go for Canoe Cache – GC1WJ8D.

Dogs are allowed in the area but MUST be on a leash at all times.
