One more for the SideTracked series.
This is a new series of caches across the Isle of Sheppey at the train stations past and present!
The Isle of Sheppey has two train stations but there used to also be a line crossing the island all the way to Leysdown.
The SideTracked series on the Isle of Sheppey are…
Queenborough
Sheerness
plus REALLY SideTracked ones…
Queenborough Pier
Sheerness East
East Minster-On-Sea
Minster-On-Sea
Brambledown Halt
Eastchurch
Harty Road Halt
Leysdown
will you be able to find them all?
Queenborough is on the Sheerness line and was opened by the Sittingbourne and Sheerness Railway in 1860. It is slightly longer than a 7 mile stretch from Sittingbourne to Sheereness. Now travel to London requires a change at Sittingbourne but for a period until 1973 there were hourly direct trains to London Victoria.
