The Sheppey Light Railway had a couple of sidings, one at Brambledown and one here at Harty Road, in 1903 the sidings were extended due to many complaints, and laterly the halts were introduced in 1905. More sidings were constructed during the First World War, and a branch siding was laid down to the Royal Naval Aviation School between Eastchurch and Harty Road Halt.
