The Theme
This event is an extension of the Mega 3IEE with the focus of taking place precisely at moonrise of the Waning Hunter’s Moon
Background
In skylore, every full moon has many names, and most are tied to the months of the year. Some moons are tied to seasons, such as the Harvest Moon and the Hunter's Moon. The Harvest moon is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. The Hunter's Moon is the full moon following the harvest. Nature is particularly cooperative having this moon near the horizon, making it appear larger, brighter more orange and perhaps adding mystique. The full moon will be seen Wednesday 08 October we will therefore be gathering at "The Waning Hunter's Moon".
The Plan
Leading up to the start time, please DO NOT congregate at the posted coordinates. Mill around nearby, enjoy the views of the Cowichan River and the wonderful location of McAdam park. There are many paths, caches and interpretive signs to heighten your visit here.
At exactly 2048 (8:48 PM) a whistle will blow and a bunch of random park visitors will descend on the posted coordinates for a short gathering. In an orderly fashion you may "sign in" at the tent and table provided. At 2100 (9:00 PM) we will all pose for the obligatory photograph, returning to being normal park visitors at 2105.
Additional Information
This event will last for a very short time, so give yourself time to get there for the start whistle.
For those who are seeking to claim an additional icon, make sure you log your visit on the correct day. If you are using a mobile app the date should be automatically recorded.
This event isn't just for Geocachers. If you have Muggle friends that you want to bring along they are more than welcome.
McAdam Park is a dog friendly area, to prevent additional unwanted excitement we do ask your pets remain on leash while the event is taking place and that you pick-up after your pet.
Let’s have fun!
