This hike will probably take around 2 1/2 to 3 hours total, but it isn't especially hard - just long. Come up Archangel Rd off Hatcher Pass Rd and park as if you were going to Reed Lakes. The bridge over Archangel Creek is unuseable right now, so you have to park before it and walk to the Reed Lakes parking area. Walk down the trail to where the trail Ys and take the left hand trail, which will climb the boulder-strewn slope. At the top of the rise, you will see some mining ruins, and more ahead. The trail passes the tumbled buildings of Snowbird Mine, and as soon as you are past them, find your way up the boulders to the right (north). You can hop across Glacier Creek and a couple smaller rivulets, and soon you will top out and see the beautiful jade green tarn, circled by shattered ridgetops and boulder fields. The mossy edges of the tarn are a great place for a picnic! If you look to your left, to the head of the tarn, you will see a huge boulder, as big as a cabin. There is a little cave-like space under it that you can actually crawl into, and that is where the cache is. I'm making this so easy, you wouldn't even need a GPS, but I figure if you've made all the effort to get there, I'm not going to confront you with a big, tough find too. So enjoy the cache and especially the scenery - you've earned it!
