Earthcaching celebrated its 10th birthday this year on 10th January. Earthcache Virtual 5k is part of the 10 year celebrations. This event has been organised to bring geocachers together to join in the celebration.
What is this all about?
"What you have to do is run or walk (or bike, roll, swim--any human-powered method is great!) a 5km (3.1 miles) path starting at OR ending at an active EarthCache on any of the days over which the run is being held (Friday 3 October through till Monday 13 October 2014)" (- Taken from the Earthcaching website)
This event will take place on Saturday 11th October @ 11am which falls during the given timeframe. The event will take place on North Bull Island EarthCache site where participants can choose to walk, jog, run, cycle, piggy-back ride, human wheel barrow, 3-legged race :D the 5km route, again, meeting the requirements stated above.

Got it? Bring your GPSr, phone, watch or whatever time keeping device of your choosing to time yourself.

Everyone who completes the 5k and uploads a photo will be sent an icon via email that you can display on your profile.

Ok! ok! Slow down. Here's some more info. to answer your questions.
We will meet at the given co-ords. The route is as shown on the map below. We will start from the given co-ords, continue along the beach to the North-East end of the island and finish back where we started. The route is 2.5k each way.
Car parking on site on the beach or anywhere along the causeway road between James Larkin Rd. and the beach.
Yes, you can bring the geo-mutts but they must be kept on a lead.

Should you wish, you can just come along at the start to say hello and sign the logbook and/or to just enjoy a stroll on the beach It's entirely up to each individual how you wish to participate.
Of course, if you are unable to attend, you can still participate in the celebration by completing your own 5k route at an active EarthCache site between 03rd & 13th October following the rules and requirements as stated above.
