Geocache Description:

This Educational Event (EduVent) is brought to you by the members of: GeocacheAlaska!

Working hard to promote Geocaching in Alaska! Please join us today!

Meet fellow geocachers and learn all about the world of Geocaching from experienced geocachers on Thursday, October 16, beginning at 6:47 p.m., at the BP Energy Center, 900 E. Benson Blvd. (Click for map.)

Tonight's speaker is Michael Malvick, aka Ladybug Kids. He will facilitate a student-paced session to create Pocket Queries (PQ) to bulk download geocaches and then how to use the Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (GSAK) program to filter the PQ to create a customized list of geocaches to hunt. Cachers are encouraged to bring their laptops or other portable devices with GoogleEarth and GSAK already loaded to make it easier to follow along.

This event will be carried live over the internet via WebEx with formal remote meeting site in Fairbanks. GeocacheAlaska! Sourdough Members who cannot attend an event site can link in remotely. Contact SSO JOAT for instructions on how to do so.

Please post a "Will Attend" log on this event page to stay appraised of the final details. If we need to make any announcements about this event, all registered attendees will automatically receive an email copy of those announcements via the email you have registered with your Geocaching.com account. Adding a "Will Attend" log to this page will also assure enough hard copy handouts are printed for the event participants.

Please arrive on time so upfront administrative details can be handled and announcements made, allowing the course content to start precisely at 6:59 p.m. Also, please bring your favorite nonalcoholic beverage and a dessert to share with your fellow cachers.

The GeocacheAlaska! Store will be available onsite immediately after the presentation. You may purchase the new 2014 geocoins and pathtag sets as well as items from our line of GxProxy gear and official Groundspeak merchandise.
