The Granite Bowl Traditional Cache

There was a cache here that had been archived. I thought the location is unique and interesting enough to have a new cache.

There is plenty of public parking and an easy stroll to the cache. There are also stairs that can be taken with a better view of the Granite Bowl. Nice little area to sit and reflect.

The Granite Bowl:

One of the most unique high school stadiums in the United States. Elberton's Granite Bowl is Georgia's largest high school stadium with a seating capacity of 20,000. In 1953 the stadium project used over 100,000 tons of Elberton Granite which transformed a discarded forest area into one of the most unique football stadiums in the United States. The stadium has been honored in several national magazines, one calling it the best place to have a high school football game in the country. Built entirely with contributions and community effort, the Granite Bowl is a source of civic pride in Elbert County. The scoreboard was donated to Elbert County by the University of Georgia after having served in Sanford Stadium. The Granite Bowl celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2003.
