An oxbow pond is a U-shaped body of water that forms when the main stem of a river or stream is cut off. This particular oxbow was formed off of Morrison Creek unknown years ago. It is so named because it's shape is reminicent of an oxen's yoke.
This area has been a favorite of mine for a while and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do! There is plenty of parking available nearby; it's just a short walk along the trail that winds it's way along the pond and swamp. Take in the beauty and enjoy the unique area that is Oxbow Pond!
