Geocache Description:

Here is a REMOTE cache designed for more adventurous cachers- but not one for the timid! The cache is located on a small parcel of State owned land near the base of a survey monument marker in Washington County. It is roughly a 5 1/2 mile round trip hike on Rogers Road during winter months. The road is steep- almost a 20% grade in some spots, so be sure you are up to the challenge before attempting this cache!

***Congratulations to eyekwilt2 and CrunchyFrog83 for the FTF honors!!!***

You are looking for a small recycled plastic cylinder that began life as a lead fishing weight container, now covered in camo tape. If you choose to hike to this one, I won't make it any harder for you- you earned it! I left a small Jack Squat geocoin in the container for the FTF. Please-BYOP!

The cache is just off Rogers Road above the Gales Creek Forest Park between MM 3.5 and MM 4.0. There is a gate on the Gales Creek park bridge just past MM 0.5 that is locked from October through April. During these months, you will have to park at the trailhead parking area and hike Rogers Road from there. From May through September, you can park at the upper gate pullout past the 1.5 MM on Rogers Road and shorten the hike quite a bit. When you head out of the campground, take the road past the B loop- that is Rogers Road.

Please observe the landowner posted signs on the upper gate. Access is open on weekends and holidays and after 4pm on weekdays. Also be aware that service vehicles for the 9-1-1 radio tower can travel the road to Round Top Mountain at all times of day or night, as well as occasional daytime logging and forestry traffic- so be alert! This hike is one that I would not recommend hiking alone. Cell phone service is minimal in this area, and there have also been several predator sightings not far from here- so please bring pepper spray or other forms of personal protection if you still decide to travel alone. In short- go prepared!

On a clear day, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the valley below from the cache. You might consider taking your camera. Have fun hiking and please- BE SAFE!
