My trek began at the end of the NF-2854 road, which made for a 3.5 mile, ~1,200' elevation gain round trip. I like to think I move pretty quickly thru the woods, but the RT still took me right at three hours. I did spend a lot of time cursing rhododendrons, (nasty gangly plants that trip and hold on to your ankles and trekking poles, repeatedly). Even the game trails only lasted about 50' each time I actually found one.
Getting to the other starting point will involve many branches attempting to customize your vehicles paint job. Once there, you'll work hard to gain the ridge. I "think" the ridge might be cleaner from this approach, but since I've never been past the Green Mountain cache, that might just be imagined.
If you decide to go after this cache, good luck and please come prepared and make sure someone knows where you're attempting to get to.
