  • When: 3:00PM-4:00PM on February 15th
  • Where: The Venue @ 21c (inside Library 21c)
1175 Chapel Hills Dr, Colorado Springs, CO
  • Why: To officially kick off the 2015 GCCO Trackable Race - Bring your bugs!

This event is one of 5 Synchronized events to kick off GCCO's 2015 race! In just our second year of holding the race, we are hoping to make it bigger than ever by getting the entire state involved!

Here are the other 4 events in the state:
GC5JAAH - Metro Denver Area (Aurora)
GC5HX6J - Northern Colorado (Fort Collins)
GC5HR85 - Western Slope (Delta)
GC5HKX9 - Southern Colorado (Pueblo)

Of course, you don't have to participate in the race to attend. There will be many TBs there, so this is an excellent opportunity to hang out and discover a LOT of bugs and coins! Also, This event will have a webcam to link it to 4 other events happening at the same time in the state. That means you might just want to come to chat with that infamous cacher that's on the other side of the state! Or, just drop by to say hi and check the place out!

NEW DETAILS ON THE EVENT! (updated 22nd, January)

Don't forget - this is a GCCO Sponsored event, meaning we will be giving away a Gold GCCO Geocoin at each event!  Must be present to be in the drawing, so come on down!

GOLD GCCO Coin

(This coin is just an example - actual gold coin will have the Rocky Mountain Nation Park design)

Speaking of drawings, GCCO has decided to try something new for this 'Multi-Event' and have a Grand Prize drawing!  There is only one Grand Prize, so the drawing will happen accross all five events using the power of Google Hangouts and a Random Number Generator!
What is this Grand Prize?!  It will be a GoPro Hero 3 - White Edition!  The winner will be able to record all of their caching adventures in HD - even underwater!

Go Pro Hero 3

More Prize Info!: One more opportunity to be entered into a drawing!  we will have 2015 GCCO Campout Stampcards at each of these events.  This is a new idea we are trying, but basically if you are planning on attending the GCCO Campout event in July (or even think you may attend) you will want to pick one of these up!  More info on the special Stampcard Drawing can be found HERE.

The Race Details:

How to Enter:

  1. Bring a Trackable with 0 miles traveled to one of these events! Heck, bring a pile of trackables, if you wish! There is no limit on how many bugs you can enter into the race, just so long as they start at the event with 0 miles.
  2. Make sure your trackable(s) is activated BEFORE the event.
  3. Bring the 'TB' number to the event and share it with the host. We will have a place for you to write it down and add it to the list of competitors.
IMPORTANT: This is NOT the number engraved on the bug - it is the number on the geocaching.com page that starts with TB. See the example below:
    This is the number
  4. Trade TBs at the event! It's a great place to drop off and pick up trackables to keep them on the move!
  5. Within a week after the event (should give us enough time to compile the list of bugs!), check The Official GCCO TB Race Site - this site will update constantly, so you can see how your bug is doing against the competition!

Race Rules:

  1. Every Trackable must be trackable on Geocaching.com
  2. Every racer must start with 0 miles at the event.
  3. The Trackable Owner shouldn't hang on to the racer. If you don't get your bug picked up by someone at the event, your next log should be to dropping it off into a geocache.
  4. The race lasts for 9months, so it will end November 15th, 2015!
  5. That's it! Have fun, and remember: it's just a game!

Event Timeline:

We are going to try to stick with the following timeline - most importantly will be the time for the Video Drawing!

3:00-3:30: Enter your bug(s) into the race, if you wish!  Simply drop off your bug(s) in the racer's starting grid, write the TBXXXX number on the signup sheet, and then mingle and taunt the other racer's!  This is also a good time for meeting and greeting, chatting with the host to find out how to get entered into the various drawings, and checking out the video feed!
3:30: Gold Coin Giveaway!  Each event will draw a winner for the covetted GCCO Gold Coin.  Remember, these gold editions are rare, as they can ONLY be won at events - you cannot buy them!
3:35-3:45: Local prize drawings!  We will be giving away some goodies at each event.  Get your SWAG on!
3:45: The Grand Prize Drawing!!  This is going to be done over the video feed!  Here is how it will happen...  Each event will draw one potential winner.  Then the host of the video feed will use a random number genrator to decide which event has the winner!  GoPro will either be hand-delivered OR shipped to the winner, depending on distance.
Any remaining time: This would be a great time to pick up trackables to move them along in the race, mingle with cachers, etc.  Any Competing Trackables that are NOT picked up by the end of the event will be picked up and moved by the host.

Of course, you do not need to be participating in the race to attend one of these events. This is going to be one of the first times GCCO is going to try one of these 'Statewide Multi-Events'. We are going to try to have a webcam set up at each event, so that makes this a great opportunity to meet cachers from all over the state!

So come one, come all! Race Fans, Competitors, and folks who just enjoy a good old fashioned get together!
